About The Position

As a member of the civil design team, this position will offer you the opportunity to work with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams in developing civil/site and physical layout drawings in a 3-D model environment and preparing associated 2-D drawing deliverables and drawing updates. This position is intended to support a new Generation III+ Reactor project with a focus on site grading and drainage design, development of buildings and structures not directly connected to the plant, and coordination of minor HVAC and piping design for those facilities.

Requirements

  • An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and one or more years of drafting course work or equivalent technical experience.
  • Ten or more years of detailed design experience in civil/site layout, grading and drainage design, and development of drawings for industrial, power, or nuclear facilities.
  • Proficiency with design software tools in executing 3-D plant and site layout models, including AVEVA 3D experience.
  • Experience reviewing and developing civil/site layout drawings involving grading, drainage, foundations, underground utilities, equipment interfaces, and building support systems.
  • Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.
  • Experience coordinating civil/site deliverables with mechanical scope, particularly for support buildings and auxiliary facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical design experience related to piping, HVAC, equipment arrangement, or support systems for industrial or power facilities.
  • Experience with nuclear new-build, or other large nuclear site development projects.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation software.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate site, structural, and mechanical systems to a technical design.

Responsibilities

  • Work with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams in developing civil/site and physical layout drawings in a 3-D model environment.
  • Perform challenging assignments involving site grading, drainage, earthwork, underground utility layout, access and roadway considerations, and general site development for a new nuclear project.
  • Support the design and layout of buildings and structures not directly connected to the plant, including associated foundations, site interfaces, and utility routing.
  • Coordinate minor HVAC and piping design for support buildings, with the ability to interface effectively with mechanical design and engineering team members.
  • Utilize AVEVA 3D and other applicable 3-D modeling software tools to generate and develop civil/site design schematics and physical layout deliverables.
  • Participate in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of an integrated design model and provide guidance to other designers and project team members to ensure a complete and timely design.
  • Independently plan and execute design deliverables such as site layout drawings, grading and drainage plans, plot plans, earthwork drawings, underground utility drawings, foundation and support details, and building arrangement drawings.
  • There may be the opportunity to conduct field walkdowns and data gathering activities at client facilities.
