About The Position

Senior Structural Analysis Engineer (Structures Safety & Airworthiness) Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer (Structures Safety & Airworthiness) to join our team in Long Beach, California . Primary work location will be Long Beach, CA. with secondary location in Seal Beach, CA. The Senior Structural Analysis Engineer that is a subject matter expert (SME) in aircraft structures and structural analysis who provides technical leadership for post‑production aircraft and covers structures airworthiness issues for customer support, and Boeing modification programs. This role ensures structural compliance with FAA regulations, authors and improves processes to maintain and demonstrate regulatory compliance, reviews non‑compliances and corrective actions, and represents the Structures Safety & Airworthiness in technical review boards (TRBs) and safety review boards (SRBs). This role will work closely with the Puget Sound Structures SAW team and represent the Post-Production teams when reviewing process changes within the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 14+ years' related work experience
  • 10+ years of Commercial aircraft Experience
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or higher in relevant engineering field
  • Demonstrated SME competency in structural stress analysis, finite element modeling, fatigue and damage tolerance, and structural substantiation methodologies
  • Practical experience with post‑production activities: modifications, STCs, SBs, field support and disposition of in‑service findings
  • Strong working knowledge of FAA airworthiness regulations relevant to structures, certification processes, and compliance demonstration
  • Experience writing or revising engineering processes, procedures and compliance artifacts; able to translate regulatory requirements into implementable company processes
  • Proven experience reviewing and dispositioning non‑compliances and driving corrective actions that mitigate risk and ensure continued airworthiness
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to concisely present technical positions to FAA or Leadership
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional technical teams and mentor less experienced engineers
  • E-UM experience, or close interaction with ODA and FAA
  • Familiarity with Boeing processes and tools and prior experience on Boeing platforms
  • Experience with statistical methods for reliability and fatigue life prediction, fracture mechanics, and nondestructive inspection (NDI) implications for compliance
  • Experience in safety management systems (SMS) and formal hazard analyses

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the SME for structural analysis methods means of compliance for post‑production configurations and modifications
  • Provides authoritative guidance to engineering teams on demonstrating compliance with FAA airworthiness regulations and certification requirements
  • Provides technical input on potential non‑compliances: review root causes, evaluate structural/airworthiness impacts, review disposition and corrective actions, and guide team towards resolution
  • Develops, update, and maintain processes, procedures and guidance documents that improve compliance, traceability and auditability against FAA rules and internal Boeing requirements
  • Represents the Structures Safety & Airworthiness function at Technical Review Boards, Safety Review Boards, certification meetings, and cross‑functional engineering reviews
  • Mentors and guide junior and mid‑level stress analysts in analysis best practices, certification criteria and regulatory interpretation
  • Coordinates with E-UMs and the applicant as required to support post‑production approvals and demonstrated compliance
  • Supports Safety Lessons Learned to capture and incorporate improvements into design/maintenance processes to prevent recurrence of structural non-compliances
  • Works with customers and regulatory agencies to define certification processes that will ensure requirements are met
