About The Position

Performs stress analysis of complex interiors, mechanical systems, and structural installations. Derives specific installation requirements from FAA and customer requirements; determine critical loads and substantiation path for installations, assemblies, and details. This role involves reviewing engineering drawings for structural integrity and compliance with FAA regulations, completing stress analysis documents, and identifying data requirements. The Senior Stress Engineer will adhere to budgets and complex project schedules, utilizing classical hand analysis methods and Finite Element Modeling techniques. They will provide guidance and feedback to other Stress Engineers, assist in developing standards, best practices, and process improvements, and may perform as a functional 'Lead' for the stress team on specific projects. This role also includes providing feedback on team performance to the Functional Manager and maintaining regular attendance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering, or equivalent
  • A minimum of 10 years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Aviation background and aircraft interior experience required
  • NASTRAN modeling and FEMAP experience required
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and reports
  • Ability to write technical reports and correspondence
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Use hands to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Close/color vision ability to adjust focus

Nice To Haves

  • Computer Aided Drafting/Design (CAD) skills preferred
  • Aviation background and aircraft interior industry experience desired

Responsibilities

  • Reviews engineering drawings for structural integrity and compliance with FAA regulations
  • Completes stress analysis documents to show compliance to FAA regulations
  • Reviews analyses and other internal documents for accuracy and thoroughness
  • Identifies data requirements
  • Adheres to budgets and complex project schedules
  • Utilizes classical hand analysis methods and Finite Element Modeling techniques
  • Provides guidance and feedback to other Stress Engineers
  • Assists in developing standards, best practices, and process improvements
  • May perform as functional “Lead” for stress team on specific project(s)
  • Provides feedback on the team as a whole and on individual performance to Functional Manager
  • Maintains regular attendance including being at work, being at work on time, and working full shifts
  • Ability to teach all relevant aspects of stress analysis (theory and application) to individuals or groups as required
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Ability to work outside of core business hours as required
