About The Position

This role advances educational equity and innovation, leverages technology to expand access, and cultivates strategic collaborations with educational, community, industry, philanthropic and governmental partners to activate talent and build a more inclusive workforce. The incumbent administers a multi-million-dollar grant portfolio and serves as a key technical advisor for funder and community accountability. Serves as the departmental lead of compliance coordination of all STEAM programming involving minors and youth participants conducted on campus, off-site, and through virtual platforms. Provides functional leadership and administrative coordination of CSUN campus-based, regional, and statewide STEAM innovation ecosystem. Develops and administers grant programs to advance EIH STEAM programming, establishing program parameters, eligibility criteria, evaluation standards, and funding strategy. Supports inclusive practices in onboarding, training, and providing lead work direction to professional staff and student employees. Leads the strategic planning and design of regional, statewide, and national convenings to establish and advance CSUN’s position as a national model of HSI excellence. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a job-related field.
  • Six (6) years of full-time, progressively responsible relevant experience in a highly specialized technical/professional area.
  • Oversight and administration of a program with supervision and/or lead experience.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master’s degree in Education, a STEAM discipline, Public Policy and Administration, or a related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • At least four (4) years of progressive and successful experience in P–20 education administration, public sector leadership, and/or non-profit management.
  • Experience designing national, statewide, regional, or campuswide programs for historically underserved and underrepresented students and communities.
  • Experience developing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with multiple educational, public, governmental, and community organizations.
  • Track record of successfully managing large-scale complex projects with institution-wide, regional, statewide, or national impact and strategic activities around a shared vision for success.
  • Outstanding written and verbal skills and the ability to convey complex data, information, and concepts in accessible terms for a range of audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and integrating educational equity, access, and STEM initiatives.
  • A high level of energy, focus, and the capacity to effectively partner with a broad range of constituents.
  • Demonstrated success in leading a high-performing team and the willingness to serve as a motivator and mentor to staff while achieving goals.
  • Experience establishing and managing formal partnership agreements (MOUs/MOAs) with K–12 districts and community-based organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing programs involving minors or youth participants, including knowledge of compliance requirements, risk management, and youth protection policies.
  • Experience working with higher education institutions on programming with faculty and students from historically underrepresented groups in STEAM.
  • Professional experience in grant (or project) administration, grant development, and/or project management including evaluation oversight.
  • Professional experience advancing institutional or organizational transformation initiatives and equity-centered student success initiatives.
  • Experience developing and managing MOUs, negotiating partnership agreements, and cooperative working relationships with P–20 educational, industry, community, and governmental organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising professional staff and student employees, including those working in youth-facing roles.
  • A strong record of commitment to and cultivation of equity, inclusion, and student success and deep appreciation for the richly diverse student population that CSUN (and HSIs) serve.
  • Knowledge of barriers that limit participation for first-generation and underrepresented students in higher education and STEM/STEAM pathways.
  • Outstanding facilitation and interpersonal communication skills including diplomacy, inclusion, listening, and consensus building to inform the decision-making process.
  • Knowledge of analytical tools to track and quantify equity outcomes.
  • Knowledge of CSU and CSUN policies governing programs with minors, including Executive Orders related to youth protection and campus safety.
  • Advanced knowledge of compliance and risk management related to youth programs.
  • Expertise in strategic planning and collaborative program design.
  • Ability to manage complex grant programs and ensure accurate impact reporting.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in directing professional and student teams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and facilitation skills for building consensus and collaboration.
  • Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex data and regulatory requirements.
