About The Position

The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager advances Athens Services’ Procurement & Supply Chain organization by leading category strategy development, sourcing, negotiating, contracting, and purchasing for assigned spend categories. Reporting to a Senior Manager of Procurement, the role supports the company’s Procurement Transformation by identifying and capturing cost savings while improving supplier performance for supported departments. The position manages high-value sourcing initiatives and works closely with departments including Operations, Fleet, IT, HR, Legal, Finance, Marketing, and Customer Experience. It oversees virtually all assigned third-party spend, seeking spend reduction, elimination, or avoidance through actions such as RFPs, supplier negotiations, product-usage management, and other sourcing practices. The role is designed to operate with a high degree of independence.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
At least 6 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or category management.
Proven experience leading supplier negotiations and sourcing initiatives.
Strong analytical, financial modeling, and negotiation skills.
Experience managing cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement or ERP systems.

Nice To Haves

MBA or professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, or PMP.
Experience in waste management, logistics, utilities, manufacturing, or industrial services industries.
Experience working in enterprise procurement or strategic sourcing organizations.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute multi-year strategic sourcing plans for assigned spend categories.
Conduct market analysis and supplier benchmarking to identify savings opportunities, recruit new suppliers, and generate ideas from the supply base.
Lead competitive sourcing processes, including RFPs, supplier negotiations, award decisions, contracting, and purchasing.
Manage strategic supplier relationships and performance metrics.
Negotiate pricing, service levels, and contract terms with key vendors.
Ensure suppliers meet company expectations for quality, service, and cost.
Partner with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into sourcing strategies.
Lead cross-functional RFP teams and support decision-making and spend implementation.
Support company-wide procurement initiatives and policy development.
Ensure sourcing activities comply with procurement policies and requirements.
Use procurement analytics and reporting tools to monitor category performance and savings.
Support implementation of Source-to-Pay processes and procurement technology.
