About The Position

Google's infrastructure needs go beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale globally, the Strategic Negotiation team secures the necessary infrastructure, from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you will leverage deep market knowledge and tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions supporting Google's infrastructure growth. You will collaborate with project teams on deal negotiations, manage vendor and partner relationships, and present deal recommendations to Tech leadership. Successful negotiations can lead to significant savings in operating costs and impact the entire business. As a Senior Strategic Negotiator, Data Center Leasing and Investments, you will be at the forefront of securing the physical infrastructure powering Google's products like Search, Cloud, and AI innovation. This is a high-impact leadership role demanding deep expertise in data center real estate and the ability to guide a team through complex, multi-million-dollar transactions from market analysis to execution. In this role, you will define and execute the strategy for acquiring third-party data center capacity, large-scale build-to-suit projects, and joint venture developments. Beyond individual agreement-making, you will architect and lead a high-performing team of negotiators, providing mentorship, strategic oversight, and organizational advocacy to scale infrastructure. Success will be measured by your ability to develop your team's capabilities while driving multi-billion-dollar savings and accelerated capacity delivery. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 14 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or Master's degree.
  • Experience in real estate development, evaluation, acquisition, construction, and site selection for industrial-scale projects.
  • Experience with power transmission and distribution, data center technology, industrial-class electrical and cooling technology, or other related technical areas (e.g., understanding of technical requirements like redundancy models (N+1, 2N) and power density).
  • Experience in managing and negotiating government incentives and economic development agreements.
  • Ability to execute in fast-paced, dynamic, collegial and collaborative environments.
  • Proven track record of success working with large-scale industrial developers or a major cloud provider.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end negotiation and execution of high-value real estate deals, colocation leases, power purchase agreements, and joint ventures.
  • Architect commercial models like NNN leases and sales-leasebacks, negotiating business terms with Legal and Finance to mitigate long-term operational risks.
  • Conduct research and modeling to assess capacity needs and strategic expansion markets, while cultivating relationships with key colocation providers and developers.
  • Build business cases using Net Present Value (NPV) and Return on Investment (ROI) metrics, presenting agreement summaries to executive leadership to justify multi-million-dollar investments and secure approvals.
  • Interface between internal technical teams and external partners, implementing tracking systems to align infrastructure needs with commercial reality.
