About The Position

The Financial Planning & Strategy (FP&S) team at Checkr operates at the intersection of finance, strategy, and execution, aiming to shape the business rather than just report on it. The team drives strategic decision-making through cross-functional partnerships, financial and strategic analyses, and domain expertise. They proactively identify opportunities to fuel growth towards Checkr's goals and deliver high-impact outcomes. This role specifically focuses on owning the Strategic Finance partnership with the VP of Marketing and the broader marketing organization, managing investments and measurement of demand generation and brand initiatives. Additionally, the role will oversee investments in the overall go-to-market business in partnership with the COO. This is a high-visibility position with direct exposure to the executive team.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 4 years as a dedicated partner to B2B marketing organizations.
  • Deep fluency in marketing economics, including the ability to build a channel ROI model and explain ROAS.
  • Fluency across the marketing measurement stack, including multi-touch attribution, incrementality testing, and MMM.
  • Experience across both PLG and sales-led go-to-market motions, understanding differences in measurement, attribution, and investment decisions.
  • A track record of driving business outcomes through financial insight and influencing strategy.
  • Experience building with AI (models, automated analysis, workflows).
  • Expert-level financial modeling skills with an instinct for business drivers.
  • Strong executive presence, communicating with clarity and conviction.
  • Hands-on experience with Marketing Analytics tools (e.g., HockeyStack), Salesforce, BI tools (e.g., Omni, Looker, Tableau), and SQL.
  • Ability to identify problems proactively and thrive in ambiguous situations.
  • An A-player mindset with a strong bias for action, resilience, and ownership.

Nice To Haves

  • A foundation in investment banking, private equity, or management consulting is a strong plus.
  • Experience moving organizations up the marketing measurement maturity curve.
  • Experience building frameworks that account for both self-serve and direct sales channels.

Responsibilities

  • Own the marketing finance partnership, acting as the go-to strategic finance partner for the VP of Marketing and their leadership team.
  • Build and own frameworks for measuring ROAS, channel efficiency, and attribution across paid, brand, and lifecycle marketing.
  • Drive the organization's evolution towards incrementality testing and Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) to understand causal, incremental measurement.
  • Own the unit economics model, reporting, and insights to drive investment decisions and support external investor relations.
  • Lead the annual and long-range planning process for the marketing organization, including setting targets, stress-testing investment cases, and building financial narratives.
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, and Product to quantitatively validate strategic investment areas.
  • Develop AI-powered workflows, automated reporting, and intelligence systems to enhance analytical capabilities for the FP&S team and marketing partners.
  • Present findings and recommendations directly to senior leaders to influence decisions.
  • Govern budget management and reporting for the COO's overall budget, with support from a Strategic Finance analyst.
