About The Position

Companion Data Services is hiring a Senior Storage Systems Programmer Analyst to maintain the integrity of its systems infrastructure. The role involves writing or debugging programs that maintain and control systems software, including operating systems, networked systems, and database systems, and providing technical and disaster recovery expertise for systems software. The position is full-time and fully onsite in Columbia, South Carolina (strongly preferred), State College, Pennsylvania, or Dallas, Texas. It is in a fast-paced, multi-platform environment that may require action and response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to support customer technical needs. The position is not eligible for sponsorship now or in the future.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a job-related field, or an accepted experience equivalency: an associate degree plus two additional years of job-related experience for a total of 10 years of required experience, or 12 total years of required work experience.
Eight years of IT experience, including extensive systems programming experience.
Strong analytical and logical thinking skills.
Thorough understanding of operating systems and foundational architecture.
Extensive knowledge of systems programming, graphical user interfaces, control languages, development, quality assurance, and integration methodologies.
Advanced knowledge of currently used programming productivity tools and their use.
Advanced knowledge and skills in analyzing system software and recommending performance enhancements.

Nice To Haves

Experience with IBM z/OS storage environments.
Working knowledge of Luminex Mainframe Virtual Tape (MVT) and storage pools.
Initialization and configuration of DASD devices.
Experience with DFSMSdss full-volume and logical-dataset dump and restore.
Experience coding SMS ACS routines.
Experience with ISMF, HSM configuration and administration, SMS storage group utilization, and RMM configuration and administration.
Working knowledge of Dino Software T-REX and UDM software products.
Exposure to IBM TDMF for z/OS.
Working knowledge of DELL EMC PowerMax and SRDF replication.
Experience with zEDC.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, isolate, and debug software problems; resolve problems and refer vendor-responsible issues appropriately.
Review and design system software and hardware builds, assess system options and their impact on the systems infrastructure, and develop and document frameworks for integrating and implementing technical-standard changes.
Coordinate installation, testing, and maintenance of systems software, and schedule system downtime to minimize user impact.
Review customer requests, security patches, and audit requirements for system additions or changes; assess feasibility and determine how to handle requests while maintaining appropriate systems infrastructure.
Assess system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine whether requested changes are possible.
Provide technical guidance to project teams and evaluate vendor-supplied software packages, making recommendations to IT management as appropriate.
Provide input, in coordination with project leads and senior staff, on proposals that could impact systems.
Assist in establishing and implementing standards and guidelines for enterprise technology solution design.
Provide technical and disaster recovery support for systems software.
