About The Position

1X is building humanoid robots that work in any space humans exist with the mission to create an abundance of labor. This involves solving robotics, AI, software, hardware, manufacturing, and operations simultaneously at scale. NEO is their flagship general-purpose robot designed to move, learn, and operate in the real world alongside people, and it is being shipped, not just demoed. The company is scaling and hiring with intention, seeking individuals inspired by challenging problems that have a real-world impact. The role is within the team responsible for all software development for the robot, from firmware to Companion to AI. This role will own the integrated schedule that turns plans into reality and coordinate closely with hardware teams to ensure roadmaps converge for shipping robots. The mission of this role is to own the fastest credible path from requirements to product launch, driving the 1X Developer Platform by building a unified plan across multiple teams, reconciling it with hardware timelines and dependencies, and ensuring its integrity and progress. This position is on the critical path for the company's most important projects.

  • Manage cross-team dependencies and blockers, making handoffs explicit, surfacing risks early, and driving or escalating resolution before they reach a critical milestone.
  • Maintain strong cross-functional communication, keeping teams aligned on status, priorities, schedule changes, risks, and decisions so work proceeds from a shared understanding.
