Google’s software engineers develop next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information. Engineers work on projects critical to Google, with opportunities to move between teams and projects as the business evolves. The role calls for versatility, leadership, and enthusiasm for solving problems across the full stack. Unified Traffic Engineering (UTE) optimizes routing and traffic load balancing across Google’s global networks, including B4 and the Google Global Network (GGN). Its systems deliver every network flow for Google and Google Cloud Platform end-to-end. The team aims to guarantee four nines of network availability through fault-tolerant, outage-free designs; deliver deterministic, policy-compliant, latency-bounded packet forwarding; and reduce per-byte costs through traffic engineering algorithms integrated with capacity planning. The AI and Infrastructure team delivers AI and infrastructure capabilities at scale, efficiency, reliability, and velocity for Googlers, Google Cloud customers, and Google users worldwide. Its work supports AI models, global services, developer platforms, and areas including TPUs, Vertex AI, Google Global Networking, data center operations, and systems research. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The listed US compensation is $262,000–$364,000 USD, plus a 25% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
