About The Position

Google software engineers develop technologies used by billions of people and work on projects critical to Google’s needs. In this role, you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, and design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions. The position focuses on Google Cloud’s machine-learning training capabilities. Google Cloud TPUs accelerate machine-learning workloads, and the Cloud TPU service with Google Kubernetes Engine support enables customers to run workloads using frameworks such as PyTorch and JAX in the cloud. You will build and deliver ML training frameworks for large language models and stable diffusion models, and develop AI framework software for cloud workloads including language modeling, rankings, and recommendations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
At least 8 years of experience in software development, such as with Python.
At least 7 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and working with ML infrastructure, such as model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, and fine-tuning.
At least 5 years of experience in one or more of speech/audio, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or another ML specialization.
At least 5 years of experience with design and architecture, and with testing and launching software products.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
At least 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
At least 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
Experience with ML modeling and scaling.
Experience with large-scale distributed systems or machine-learning systems, including training for LLMs or image generation.
Experience building cloud-based services, including with GCP.

Responsibilities

Build and deliver ML frameworks for training large language models and stable diffusion models for Google Cloud customers.
Design and implement AI framework software for cloud ML workloads, enabling models for language modeling, stable diffusion, rankings, and recommendations.
Identify and resolve issues in software, performance, and topology.
Work with software engineers, product managers, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality products and features through the software project lifecycle.
Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software.
