Borglet is a closely-knit team of 130+ SWEs. Our team builds a high performance, reliable and efficient Borglet for Google Cloud, Core and ML usecases. We're part of the broader Borglet team, Google's node management agent. We’re a strong, systems-heavy team that works closely with cluster management software, the kernel, with hardware platforms and user applications. This places us in a key position in infrastructure projects and has enabled us to play a critical role in our fast-growing Google Cloud business. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 7 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and working with industry ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
  • Experience with security operating systems, distributed systems, Kernel, operating systems, network virtualization, and virtual machines.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Experience with Linux, GPU Drivers, and GPU Programming.
  • Experience with system software, distributed systems, and complex multi-component software systems.
  • Familiarity with the Linux kernel interface and containers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects. Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines. Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers.
  • Lead a team of engineers focussed on designing, implementing, and analyzing low-level computer systems and their interactions with the kernel and hardware; collaborating with partner teams as well as users across Google (e.g., cluster management team, ML teams, hardware platform teams, SRE teams, Google Cloud).
