Senior Staff Safety Assurance Engineer - Robot Safety

1XSan Carlos, CA
$170,000 - $259,000Onsite

About The Position

1X is building humanoid robots designed to work in homes, handling chores and tasks to give people their time back. This requires solving robotics, AI, and manufacturing challenges simultaneously, at scale, in a form factor safe enough for family environments. NEO is their flagship home robot, designed to move, learn, and operate alongside people, and the company is focused on shipping it. They are scaling and hiring with intention, seeking individuals inspired by the mission to change how humans spend their time by safely creating abundance for all. The Autonomy & Safety Engineering team ensures 1X robots operate safely, reliably, and predictably in real-world human environments by developing systems, methodologies, and operational frameworks to validate robot safety across autonomy, controls, perception, hardware, and deployment operations. The Safety Assurance function is critical in defining how safety is measured, documented, validated, and operationalized as 1X scales embodied AI systems into homes and real-world environments.
