Senior Staff Geologist / Environmental Engineer

About The Position

Evaluate and interpret subsurface field and sampling data, including soil and groundwater, to develop conclusions about environmental and geologic site conditions. Generate subsurface maps and cross-sections and collaborate with engineering and environmental scientist staff. Oversee field monitoring and testing of soils, including boring investigations and soil type classification, and interpret soil, bedrock, and groundwater elevation and quality data. Prepare written plans and reports related to site investigations, assessments, and remediation activities. Projects may include construction work focused on earthwork and structural foundations; well design and sampling; Phase I/II environmental site assessments; and seismic risk assessments. This mid-level, experienced Geologist/Hydrogeologist conducts site testing and makes recommendations for systems design on medium-sized projects with varying complexity, and participates with more senior Geologists on large, complex projects. The role includes site visits, field observations, and field data collection; directing and supervising field staff; developing written client proposals; evaluating complex laboratory and field data and assembling written reports; and participating or leading in client meetings and project communications. May oversee work performed by lower-level Geologists/Hydrogeologists. Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards on all projects; participate in pre-task planning; report safety issues or concerns to management; and maintain quality standards on all projects.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
Certification in the field of expertise.
A valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history may be required.

Develop written client proposals for small and large projects and conduct quality-control reviews of proposals written by others.
Evaluate complex laboratory and field data and assemble the results in written reports.
Participate or lead in client meetings and communications concerning specific projects or tasks.
Oversee work performed by lower-level Geologists/Hydrogeologists when needed.
Follow project safety rules, guidelines, and standards; participate in pre-task planning; report safety issues or concerns to management; and maintain project quality standards.
