1X is building humanoid robots designed to work in homes, handling chores and tasks to give people their time back. This requires solving robotics, AI, and manufacturing challenges simultaneously, at scale, in a form factor that is safe for family environments. The company has been working on this since 2014 and is now focused on shipping its flagship product, NEO, a home robot designed to move, learn, and operate alongside people in the real world. The company is scaling and hiring intentionally, seeking individuals inspired by the mission to change how humans spend their time by safely creating abundance for all. The Autonomy & Safety Engineering team is responsible for ensuring 1X robots operate safely, reliably, and predictably in human environments, developing systems, architectures, and frameworks for safe interaction with people, homes, and dynamic physical spaces. The Functional Systems Safety team specifically identifies, mitigates, and validates safety risks across autonomy, controls, hardware, software, and operational robotics systems.
