About The Position

We’re partnering with a fast-growing AI startup building next-generation productivity software at the intersection of desktop applications, AI agents, and workflow automation. This company is building the future AI operating layer for knowledge work, an AI-native desktop assistant that understands everything happening across your workflow in real time. Their product integrates directly into the desktop environment, captures context across applications, and helps users operate significantly faster without constantly switching tools, tabs, or workflows. Backed by top-tier investors with $50M+ raised, they are still an extremely lean engineering organization where every engineer has outsized ownership and influence. This is not a role where you inherit a narrow surface area inside a large org. You’ll help shape the architecture, product direction, runtime systems, and AI-native user experience from the ground up. They’re looking for highly technical engineers who thrive in fast-moving environments and enjoy solving hard product and systems problems across desktop infrastructure, performance optimization, native integrations, and AI workflows.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering fundamentals — Experience shipping production software with real ownership and operational responsibility.
  • High-agency startup mentality — Comfortable operating in ambiguity, moving quickly, and solving problems independently.
  • Strong full-stack experience — TypeScript, React, Node.js, and modern product engineering environments.
  • Product-minded builder — Cares deeply about UX, performance, reliability, and product quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Native/Desktop systems exposure — Experience with Electron, Swift, C++, desktop applications, or OS-level integrations is highly valuable.
  • AI curiosity — Experience with AI/LLM-powered features, copilots, or workflow automation is a strong plus.
  • Early-stage startups
  • AI-native product companies
  • Developer tooling or productivity software companies
  • Former founders, open-source contributors, and engineers with strong side projects are especially compelling.

Responsibilities

  • Build and scale a cross-platform desktop application - Work across Electron, TypeScript, React, Node.js, Swift, and C++ to ship performant user-facing systems.
  • Own systems end-to-end - Engineers own architecture, implementation, performance, instrumentation, debugging, and production delivery.
  • Work on AI-native product experiences - Build features powered by LLMs, context orchestration, workflow automation, and native desktop integrations.
  • Improve performance and reliability - Solve problems related to latency, memory usage, telemetry, observability, and runtime stability.
  • Help shape technical direction - Strong engineering opinions are valued. You’ll contribute to architectural decisions, tooling, frameworks, and long-term product direction.
  • Work closely with a tiny, elite team - The company operates with very little bureaucracy and a very high degree of ownership, autonomy, and trust.

Benefits

  • Competitive Equity
  • Massive ownership
  • Technically difficult problems
  • AI-native product exposure
  • Strong funding + early-stage upside
  • Significant runway
  • Meaningful equity and influence
