About The Position

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Staff Environmental Engineer or Scientist in our environmental sciences and engineering practice in our Washington, DC office. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations related to environmental due diligence and contaminated site assessment & remediation for a diverse national private and public sector client base, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology (required)
  • At least 2 years of related experience, including supporting environmental due diligence and related consulting projects, observation of drilling and well installation, soil sampling, soil vapor, groundwater sampling, and other field techniques, or equivalent combination of education and experience (required)
  • Knowledge of federal and state-specific regulatory drivers related to environmental assessment and remediation (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills (required)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required)

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in the same (preferred)
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, if applicable (preferred)
  • Prior experience in environmental consulting (valuable)
  • Experience in environmental site assessment, environmental permitting/compliance, geology, geotechnical, or related disciplines (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or GIS (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of AI tools to support consulting assignments (valuable)

Responsibilities

  • Environmental due diligence (including performance of Phase I ESAs under the applicable ASTM standards and limited environmental compliance reviews) and ESG due diligence
  • Technical research, review, and management of documents and data from publicly-available and private sources to support consulting and litigation support projects
  • Fieldwork such as soil, soil vapor, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, construction quality assurance and oversight, and remediation system Operations & Management (O&M)
  • Data compilation, review, and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed
