About The Position

GEICO is establishing a dedicated, high-impact engineering team focused on transforming enterprise operations through agentic AI systems and intelligent automation. This team will integrate directly with collaboration and productivity tools like Outlook, Slack, and Zoom to minimize manual effort, speed up execution, and enhance the associate experience at scale. We are looking for a Senior Staff Engineer to be a lead builder on this team, responsible for designing and deploying scalable, production-ready systems that power these new experiences. This role is crucial in translating architectural concepts into tangible execution, building the platforms, services, and integrations necessary for AI-driven workflows throughout GEICO.

Requirements

  • Deep hands-on experience in complex system design and development of multi-tier distributed systems.
  • Fluency in at least two OOP languages (e.g., Java, Go, Python, C++).
  • Experience partnering with engineering teams and transferring research to production.
  • Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code.
  • In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
  • Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development lifecycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, test automation, operations, real-time communication).
  • Experience in CI/CD pipelines and related open-source tools like GIT/Jenkins/CircleCI/SonarQube.
  • Knowledge in Terraform/Ansible is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with open-source monitoring software like Grafana and Prometheus.
  • Familiarity with other messaging and event solutions like Azure Service Bus and Azure Event Hub is a plus.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience building scalable 3-tier production applications serving millions of customers.
  • 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, and DevOps practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ years of experience with open-source frameworks is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and thought leadership to design, build, and productionize enterprise applications across multiple focus areas.
  • Develop and implement technical software development strategies for diverse domains.
  • Build, integrate, or extend solutions for enterprise collaboration platforms such as Slack, Outlook, Zoom, SharePoint, and Copilot, emphasizing scalable automation and AI-driven workflows in real-world systems.
  • Ensure the quality, usability, and performance of developed solutions.
  • Influence and educate leadership at all organizational levels.
  • Consistently share best practices and drive process improvements within and across teams.
  • Determine and support resource requirements, evaluate operational processes, measure outcomes, and demonstrate adaptability while sponsoring continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with application teams and business partners to standardize file sharing practices and scale products from inception to launch.
