About The Position

Shield AI is hiring a Senior Staff Engineer to lead physical integration of weapons and payloads on its aircraft, including X-BAT. The role applies best practices and MIL-STD-1289 to develop designs for integrating weapons and stores into a weapons bay and onto external pylons. The engineer works with aircraft design and analysis teams, supports design reviews, and contributes to integration and test activities, including ground and flight testing.

Requirements

Strong CAD skills; NX is preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
10 or more years of experience in mechanical or mechanism design.
Familiarity with Bomb Rack Units/Assemblies (BRA/BRU) and Launcher Assembly Units (LAU).
Knowledge of pneumatic power systems used in military aircraft.
Demonstrated experience designing suspension and release mounting fixtures and fittings.
Demonstrated experience designing weapon pylons.
Ability to work independently in fast-paced, cross-functional teams and across functional organizations.
A demonstrated record of working hard, being trustworthy, maintaining high standards, and treating others kindly.
Ability to obtain an S//SAR-level security clearance is desired.

Nice To Haves

Experience with UAVs, aircraft, or robotic systems.
Familiarity with electromechanical actuators.
Hands-on machine shop or mechanic experience, professional or hobby.
Ability to thrive in startup, R&D, or defense innovation environments.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with aircraft design teams on mechanical weapons integration activities.
Design pylons and fittings.
