Senior Staff Device Engineer
About The Position
MaxLinear is seeking a Senior Staff Device Engineer to join their team. This role involves R&D in semiconductor device engineering, focusing on device characterization for RF/analog and digital applications, analysis of device/interconnect variability and reliability, and the development of SPICE models and Process Design Kits (PDKs). The engineer will also be responsible for test structure design for device layout/structure optimization and PDK development for advanced CMOS, SiGe BiCMOS, and HV/BCD technologies. Additionally, the role includes electromagnetic & thermal analysis (including self-heating effect), SPICE model parameter extraction for active/passive devices, metal interconnects, and substrates. Collaboration with internal IC design & DEA/CAD groups for PDK and foundation IP improvement, as well as with foundry technology teams for process technology, device characteristics, and reliability review, is expected.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of semiconductor device physics, electromagnetic theory, circuit design fundamentals, and advanced process technology (Fin/GAA-FET CMOS, SiGe BiCMOS, & HV/BCD process)
- Experience in semiconductor device design and characterization, device modeling for SPICE simulation, high-frequency measurements, and electromagnetic simulation
- Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related + 7 years of experience, or MS + 5 years of experience, or Ph.D. + 2 years of experience
Responsibilities
- R & D in semiconductor device engineering, especially in device characterization for both RF/analog & digital applications, analysis on device/interconnect variability and reliability, and development of SPICE models and PDK

- Collaborate with foundry technology teams to review and analyze process technology, device characteristics, and device reliability
