We are looking for a Sr. Staff Controls Engineer (Integration) to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to Sr. Director, Controls Engineering and based in San Jose, CA This is a fully on-site, in office role. The Senior Staff Integration Engineer will drive the integration of third‑party equipment with our control systems, ensuring reliable, scalable, and high‑performance system behavior across all deployments. This role serves as the technical authority for external interfaces and system-level interactions.

Requirements

  • 6+ years in controls, systems, or integration engineering
  • Deep experience with industrial communication protocols and hardware interfaces
  • Strong system-level debugging and root cause analysis skills
  • Proven track record of integrating third‑party equipment in complex systems
  • Experience working cross-functionally with internal teams and external vendors
  • Strong leadership and ability to influence without direct authority

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end integration of third‑party hardware with the controls platform
  • Define and standardize communication interfaces (e.g., Modbus, CAN, MQTT)
  • Lead system architecture for external equipment interaction and data exchange
  • Drive vendor alignment on interface requirements, testing, and issue resolution
  • Identify and resolve system-level integration risks early in development
  • Develop validation strategies, test plans, and tools for integration robustness
  • Partner with controls, systems, and field teams to ensure successful deployment and performance
  • Establish scalable frameworks and best practices for future integrations
