Our team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Staff Chemist to support. This position will have you sit in either our Bloomfield, NJ; Pennington, NJ; or Columbia, MD office. The Senior Staff Chemist will play a key role in ensuring all chemistry-related goals of the program are attained and will be present on site during all sampling events. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Geochemistry, Environmental Chemistry or Radiochemistry.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience required in investigations, studies, design, and remedial actions at Hazardous, Toxic, and Radioactive Waste sites, specifically calibrating and using radiological field monitoring equipment (e.g., NaI detectors, personal dosimeters, etc.), and/or analytical work on radioactive contamination cleanup projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with field teams and project managers.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations and guidance related to environmental site assessment and remediation, especially pertaining to radiological contaminants (e.g., MARSSIM and other DOE, NRC, and USEPA documents.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site Radiological Support Chemist during field sampling activities.
  • Familiarity with radiological field sampling equipment, including calibration and operation field monitoring/measurement devices such assodium iodide (NaI) detectors and personal dosimeters.
  • Support investigations, studies, design, and remedial actions.
  • Oversee and perform analytical work for radioactive contamination cleanup projects.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable safety and quality standards.
  • Field up to 80% of time.
  • Drive personal, company, or rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
