About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Staff AI Engineer to join its Finance AI team. The role focuses on designing, building, evaluating, and operating AI-powered applications, agents, and automation for Finance. It is primarily an applied engineering position building on foundation models, with opportunities to identify and demonstrate where customized Nemotron models outperform prompting and retrieval. The engineer will develop agentic systems end to end, from scoping problems with Finance partners to building evaluation harnesses and ensuring reliable retrieval quality and production cost. The role also sets architecture, shared primitives, engineering patterns, and quality bars; mentors engineers; and represents AI engineering to Finance and NVIDIA leadership. The engineer will evaluate emerging models, agent frameworks, retrieval techniques, and tools, conduct experiments, and make build/no-build recommendations. They will also partner with the model team to leverage, fine-tune, and post-train NVIDIA Nemotron models for Finance use cases.

Requirements

Master's or PhD in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
12+ years building and operating production systems, including 3+ years with LLM or agent systems.
Track record as a core technical contributor, having shipped multiple LLM-powered applications or agents and owned them in production.
Hands-on experience with skill-based workflows, harnesses, and agent orchestration frameworks.
Expertise in advanced retrieval techniques and deep hands-on expertise designing evaluations and observability for LLM systems.
Strong Python skills and solid engineering fundamentals.
Extensive experience with agentic and adversarial software engineering.
Understanding of LLM security and safety risks.
Practical understanding of networks and operating systems.

Nice To Haves

Technical influence without authority, including the ability to align engineers and business leaders on difficult decisions and set direction across teams not directly managed.
Experience with NVIDIA's applied AI stack.
Recognized applied AI expertise, demonstrated through conference talks, open-source contributions, or published work.
Experience at a large technology company and/or in a finance-adjacent environment.
Depth across fine-tuning and reinforcement learning techniques.

Responsibilities

Develop and own agentic systems end to end, from problem scoping with Finance partners through evaluation harnesses, retrieval quality, and production cost and reliability.
Set architecture, shared primitives, patterns, and quality standards for other engineers to build on.
Mentor engineers and represent AI engineering to Finance and NVIDIA leadership.
Test emerging models, agent frameworks, retrieval techniques, and tools; run experiments and make build/no-build recommendations.
Partner with the model team to leverage, fine-tune, and post-train NVIDIA Nemotron models for Finance use cases.
