About The Position

The Senior Staff Accountant is a key member of the Finance team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial statements. This role involves performing complex reconciliations, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and contributing to overall financial compliance and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including time in public accounting or with a large corporate accounting department.
  • Proven experience leading or significantly contributing to the month-end close process.
  • Expert knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, complex formulas).
  • Experience with a major ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing and posting complex journal entries, accruals, and deferrals.
  • Maintain the General Ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately classified and recorded in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare detailed account reconciliations for critical balance sheet accounts (e.g., cash, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, and intercompany transactions).
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial reports and schedules.
  • Support annual external audits by preparing requested documentation, schedules, and explanations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls (SOX if applicable) and company accounting policies.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Manage and maintain the Fixed Asset Register, including tracking additions, disposals, and calculating monthly depreciation.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather necessary financial information and address accounting inquiries.
  • May assist with specialized areas such as revenue recognition, inventory, or payroll accounting, depending on the company structure.
