About The Position

The senior staff accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. The staff accountant will be assigned one large legal company and several smaller companies that they will be required to perform the month end close, financial reporting, and variance analysis. They are responsible for all accounting and tax functions for all assigned business unit(s) and responsible for daily cash balancing and special projects, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Accounting degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles
  • Knowledge of auditing practices and principles
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
  • Knowledge and experience with MS Business Central
  • A minimum of 3 years related experience preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • Proficient in payables, receivables, invoicing and general ledger.
  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

Responsibilities

  • Perform accounting and tax functions for all assigned companies, including preparing monthly accrual basis financial statements, journal entries, and related schedules.
  • Control depreciation records using Asset Keeper software.
  • Record weekly, quarterly, and annual payroll and payroll tax activity.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain equipment leases and maintenance contracts.
  • Maintain daily cash balance reporting and requisitions.
  • Prepare outside service and inter-company analyses.
  • Review and post AP and billing documents.
  • Prepare work papers for annual external review.
  • Perform variance analysis for monthly financial narrative.
  • Comply with company rules and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data.
  • Keep manager/supervisor informed of activities and situations that will impact the achievement of corporate or department goals and objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and company.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
