Requirements

  • CPA designation in good standing with CPA Ontario
  • Minimum 4 years of public accounting experience in a staff accountant role with exposure to audit, review adn tax projects
  • Strong technical knowledge of ASPE, CAS, and Canadian review standards
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a client-focused mindset
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment
  • Working experience with CaseWare and a tax preparation software is essential
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Karbon is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of client engagements, including compilations, reviews, audits, and related corporate and personal tax filings
  • Plan engagements, monitor budgets, and track WIP
  • Ensure engagements are completed on time, meet firm quality standards, and comply with ASPE, CAS, and Canadian review standards
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve complex accounting and audit issues in a timely manner
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Develop a deep understanding of client businesses, financials, and tax matters to provide tailored advice
  • Identify opportunities to add value, including tax planning, reorganizations, and optimization strategies
  • Maintain ongoing client communication throughout the year to support smooth engagement delivery
  • Review work prepared by junior and intermediate team members, providing clear and constructive feedback
  • Mentor and support team members in technical development, professional judgment, and client service excellence
  • Assist in assigning work and managing workflows to ensure deadlines are met
  • Support staff development, performance growth, and learning initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with Managers, partners and the tax team to integrate tax planning into assurance engagements
  • Contribute to process improvements and the enhancement of firm methodologies
  • Promote open communication and a supportive, team-oriented environment
