About The Position

Crowe Soberman LLP is seeking a proactive, self-starter to join their team as a Senior Staff Accountant. This is a full-time, permanent position located at Yonge and Eglinton, offering a hybrid work model. The role involves responsibility for various engagements, potentially handling multiple assignments simultaneously. Professional staff members are expected to have at least three years of experience in a public accounting firm and a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS), Canadian Standard on Review Engagements (CSRE 2400), and Canadian taxation.

Requirements

  • University degree
  • Completion of or close to completion of CPA, CA designation
  • At least two years of practical experience in public practice
  • Experience with Audit, Review, Compilation and Tax engagements
  • Experience with CaseWare
  • Experience with Caseview
  • Experience with TaxPrep
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Dedication and strong work ethic
  • Positive team player
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP, CAS, CSRE 2400 and Canadian tax
  • Requires little supervision on routine tasks
  • Able to prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Excellent client service skills, with the desire and ability to understand the clients' businesses
  • Comfortable making contact with clients
  • Conscious of client relations and expectations

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare time budget for review and audit engagements for subsequent approval by the Manager and/or the Partner
  • Prepare financial statements including all the required notes and year end letters (i.e., enclosure letter, legal information letter and engagement letter)
  • Ensure that all planned procedures have been completed in accordance with the firm’s policies and procedures, and Canadian standards. Also to ensure that all queries and outstanding points have been cleared satisfactorily
  • Thoroughly plan an audit and complete entire sections of the file assessed as high risk
  • Complete entire compilation and review engagements
  • Train and supervise junior staff on audit engagements
  • Prepare corporate, personal, partnership, and trust tax returns
  • Promptly review any significant assurance engagement findings or questions involving accounting principles or statement presentation with the Manager or Partner and make suggestions as to their resolution
