About The Position

Senior accountants are expected to accept all responsibility for routine engagements. These responsibilities will include delegation of work to lower-level staff, supervision of lower-level staff and any other decisions relative to the work performed. They must maintain good communication with lower-level staff to make sure all work is being performed in an accurate and timely manner. They must also maintain communication with supervisors, managers and partners to ensure the work-process is continuing in an organized, efficient and professional manner. Senior accountants will begin developing relationships with clients and handling routine responsibilities and engagements while targeting subjects which should be discussed with superiors. Senior accountants are responsible for some portions of regular engagements, with little supervision. Duties may include supervising staff on engagements, including delegation of duties, and participating on several engagements simultaneously. They will also handle written correspondence with minimal supervision. Senior accountants are expected to develop professionally by actively pursuing a CPA certificate, demonstrating the ability to sell new services to existing clients and to begin to attract new business to the Firm. They should take an interest in administrative activities such as staff evaluations, performance reviews, recruiting and developing office policy. They will work with management on in-house training programs, including CPE and other presentations, and continue participation in civic events, while continuing to reflect Firm image and to attract new business. They will work with supervisor, manager or partners on assigning work to staff accountants and demonstrating some leadership of staff accountants.
