CVS is seeking an experienced Senior SQL Developer to join our Analytics and Data Services team. The ideal candidate is located in the Eastern or Central time zone and has extensive expertise in SQL, relational databases, data integration, and large-scale data processing. This individual will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines, managing enterprise data assets, and supporting advanced analytics initiatives. The successful candidate has a proven track record of "shoveling data" at scale, moving and transforming millions of records efficiently while ensuring data quality, performance, and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience developing complex SQL solutions in a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Strong expertise with relational database platforms such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or similar technologies.
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets and optimizing data performance at scale.
  • Solid understanding of database design, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing principles and dimensional data modeling.
  • Experience integrating data from multiple sources, including APIs, databases, and flat files.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Databricks, or Hadoop.
  • Familiarity with Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages for data automation.
  • Experience supporting healthcare, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices and version control tools such as Git.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other analytics platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database objects.
  • Build and optimize ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and load large datasets from multiple sources.
  • Manage and support enterprise database environments and data warehouses.
  • Tune SQL code and database performance to improve execution speed and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines that support reporting, analytics, operational systems, and machine learning initiatives.
  • Profile, cleanse, validate, and reconcile large volumes of data.
  • Design data models and database structures to support current and future business needs.
  • Monitor data quality and implement controls to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Troubleshoot production data issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Document database designs, data flows, and technical processes.
