About The Position

Humber River Health is seeking a Senior Specialist, Volunteer Services to join their Volunteer Services Team. This full-time, non-union position is based at the Wilson Site with occasional travel to Finch and Church sites. The role reports to the Manager, Volunteer Services and is responsible for leading and coordinating the Lobby Services team, developing and maintaining Volunteer Services resources (including a SharePoint site), and leading recruitment, orientation, and onboarding activities for new volunteers. Humber River Health is North America's first fully digital hospital, committed to changing healthcare through technology and clinical expertise, serving a community of 850,000 residents in North West Toronto. Requirements

  • College Diploma in Volunteer Management/ Psychology/Social Work or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ Volunteer Specialist experience, preferably in a Health Care setting
  • Certificate in Volunteer Management required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for those registered with the Professional Association of Volunteer Leaders - Ontario (PAVRO) or Canadian Volunteer Association (CVA)
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to employee relations is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the recruitment, orientation and ongoing training activities for all volunteers.
  • Plan and coordinate a master schedule to maintain appropriate staffing levels and continuous coverage for patient inquiry and information stations, including managing unexpected and planned coverage needs.
  • Design, develop, update and maintain the content and resources within the Volunteer section of the hospital’s internal and external website.
  • Develop weekly communication bulletin to provide updates on organizational changes and information required to respond to inquiries from the public.
  • Advise and assist team members in problem solving with the goal of volunteer satisfaction, engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Design and develop role specific training sessions and annual retraining sessions for all volunteer program areas.
