Senior Specialist Solution Architect

Red RiverRaleigh, NC
$130,000 - $190,000Remote

About The Position

This is a telecommuting role to be performed anywhere in the U.S. The Senior Specialist Solution Architect will design and architect enterprise container platform solutions using Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes for customers across private, public, and hybrid cloud environments. This includes developing migration strategies from legacy and VMware-based infrastructure to containerized platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related field and ten (10) years of experience in the job offered or related role.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with: Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, Docker, and container orchestration technologies, including deploying and managing containerized applications in private, public, and hybrid cloud environments; and software development using Java and version control systems (including Git and SVN), including designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise software solutions.
  • Five (5) years of experience with: Red Hat OpenShift service mesh technologies including Istio and Linkerd, traffic management, mTLS, and observability for microservices architectures; CI/CD pipeline design and implementation using Jenkins, ArgoCD (GitOps), and Red Hat OpenShift Pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment workflows; container networking, including ingress controllers, network policies, and CNCF projects, including Calico and Envoy; and observability and monitoring tools including Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, Elasticsearch, and Fluent-bit for containerized workloads.
  • Three (3) years of experience with: infrastructure automation using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), Terraform, and scripting languages (Bash, Golang); and container autoscaling using Kubernetes HPA, custom Prometheus metrics, and metric server adapters for REST and Kafka-based workloads.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Android application design and development using Android SDK, Android Studio, and build tools (including Gradle and Maven), including developing performance-driven Android components and releasing applications to production.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and manage Red Hat OpenShift clusters for Proof of Concept (PoC) engagements, creating custom YAML manifests, Helm charts, and Kubernetes Operators to demonstrate platform capabilities aligned with customer requirements.
  • Implement and configure service mesh solutions using Red Hat OpenShift Service Mesh, including traffic management, mutual TLS security, observability, and canary deployment strategies for microservices architectures.
  • Architect and implement CI/CD pipelines using Red Hat OpenShift Pipelines (Tekton), ArgoCD (Red Hat OpenShift GitOps), and Jenkins to enable automated application build, test, and deployment workflows for enterprise customers.
  • Design container networking solutions including ingress controllers, gateway api, network policies, and integration with CNCF projects such as Calico, and Envoy for secure and scalable application connectivity on Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Implement observability and monitoring solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing tools such as Jaeger for containerized workloads running on Red Hat OpenShift, including custom metrics-based autoscaling for REST and event-driven (Kafka) applications.
  • Develop automation solutions using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), Terraform, and scripting languages (Bash, Golang) to streamline infrastructure provisioning, cluster lifecycle management, and application deployment across multi-cloud environments.
  • Architect container autoscaling strategies using Kubernetes Horizontal Pod Autoscaler (HPA), custom Prometheus metrics, and metric server adapters to optimize resource utilization and application performance on Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, including cluster operations, pod scheduling, storage, networking, and upgrade issues to restore normal functioning in customer environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, and field sales to translate customer technical requirements into solution architectures, and contribute to product roadmap feedback based on field engagements.
  • Create technical content including reference architectures, solution briefs, blogs on Red Hat Developer portal, and official documentation to share best practices for container orchestration, CI/CD, and cloud-native application design.
  • Design and develop Java-based software solutions and Android applications to support enterprise platform tooling, including building custom utilities, mobile management interfaces, and automation tools using Java, Android SDK, and Git-based version control workflows to enhance platform adoption and customer enablement for Red Hat OpenShift environments.
