The Senior Specialist, Process Safety role is responsible for implementing the Process Safety Management programs, policies and procedures for the Engineering and Construction Group and domestic pipeline and terminal within Buckeye. Requirements

  • Minimum of a BS in Engineering, Health and Safety or advance degree.
  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in Petrochemical industry, oil and gas applying principles and practices of risk assessment, safety engineering and hazard management.
  • Experience in technical safety, systems safety, process safety tools and techniques such as Apollo PHA, HAZOP, HAZID or Quantitative Risk Assessment.
  • Up to 30% travel
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, presentation and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Great deal of scheduling flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Compliance with all personnel policies.

Responsibilities

  • Working with domestic Operations and E&C groups in developing five year Asset Maintenance Plan.
  • Identifying, assessing and documenting of HSSE risk reduction and control strategies for significant hazards.
  • Planning, organizing, leading assessment and controlling activities such as HAZOP, PHA, MOC and facility siting/layout studies.
  • Supporting and facilitating the PSM process to include domestic pipeline/terminal Operations, E&C Group, and Corporate HSSE Teams, driving the Process Hazard Assurance by preparing site projects for internal and corporate Process Safety inspections and facilitating the Apollo Process Hazards Assessment Process.
  • Training and mentoring staff on new and or modified procedures.
  • Auditing and enforcing compliance with procedures and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
