About The Position
L3Harris is seeking mechanical controls engineers in Rochester NY to work on a dynamic team to develop EO/IR solutions. They will have Controls Engineering responsibilities consisting of the design, development, modification, evaluation and analysis of complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, opto-mechanical components, subassemblies and systems. Candidate will work closely with cross functional members in engineering, manufacturing, & program management to design, develop & build high performance systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Nice To Haves
- Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Matlab/Simulink.
- Experience with advanced shock and vibration analysis.
- System development considering machine design and theory of mechanisms, thermal design considerations, and materials selection for demanding environments and applications.
- Experience in designs of electric motors, gears, bearings, and flexures
- Electronics packaging knowledge
- Hardware integration and troubleshooting
- Engineering of aerospace products
- Strong mechanical and geo-spatial comprehension skills
- Understanding of defense products for the environments and platforms L3Harris supports
Responsibilities
- Control-system design, analysis and verification methods
- State estimation data fusion methods for inertial navigation
- Influence architecture and design configuration through comparative trades
- Subsystem requirement allocation
- Modeling and simulation methods
- Performance characterization and fault diagnosis
- Understand and implement systems engineering processes
- Create and update essential engineering documents including specifications, reports, plans, technical memos, and presentations
- Design, develop, modify and evaluate complicated and difficult mechanical and electro-mechanical components, sub-systems and systems.
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance
