About The Position

The Field Engineering Sr. Specialist will provide project and technical support for the installation, inspection, testing, and initial operation of shipboard electronics systems on new construction submarines at Electric Boat shipyard locations in Groton, CT, and Quonset Point, RI. This role involves assisting in the installation of land and sea-based electronic systems, managing projects and processes within the shipyard group to achieve operational targets, and supporting operational delivery for the Navy customer. The position may also involve supporting operational installation of electronics systems at other Navy installation sites and onboard other US and UK submarines. The specialist will be responsible for making short-notice independent assessments and decisions for technical areas of responsibility, especially during critical testing phases. Communication with the Groton, CT group, Integrated Test Solutions, external contractors, and Navy customers is essential. This role includes guiding, coaching, and training other employees, general analysis, problem-solving, procedure/process development, and innovation related to electronics systems support. The position requires near and long-distance travel on a varying schedule, as well as supporting various tasks at the home location when not traveling, such as shipyard meetings, production status updates, electronics systems installation, supporting visiting installation teams, on-the-job training, mentoring, and filing reports.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior experience in military electronics systems/Strategic Weapons Systems as well as shipyard operations, OR a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience, OR in lieu of a degree, 10 years of other relevant experience.
Active U.S. Secret Clearance.
4+ years of experience in a shipyard environment.
10+ years of technical-focused career experience.
4+ years of experience conducting electronic troubleshooting and repair with quality assurance workmanship skills.
4+ years of experience conducting electronic systems installation and testing.
Travel up to 15% of the time to US and UK locations (WA, CA, GA, FL, UK).

Responsibilities
