About The Position

L3Harris' EW Division seeks an experienced EEE parts Component Engineer to join our team. The person in this position will be responsible for supporting our Clifton, NJ location in the development of complex Electronic Warfare Systems. This includes all phases of product development from advanced research and development through design and on to production support. Tasks will include development of component requirements, parts selection, addressing obsolescence issues and working closely with Design, Supply Chain, Quality, and Reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Parts Obsolescence and use of Silicon Expert
  • Experience with the GIDEP system
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and schematics.
  • Experience with packaged and die-level components, MMICs and ASICs
  • Knowledge/use of Microsoft Office Applications

Responsibilities

  • Develop requirements and qualification test plans, thru customer approval, for non-standard Parts, and Processes (i.e. PARs, PMPCB approval).
  • Support component selection
  • Develop part specifications (e.g. SCD’s, PID’s)
  • Assist design engineering in selecting appropriate parts based on mission requirements
  • Resolve supplier issues in cooperation with quality and supply chain.
  • Provide support to subcontractors for all PMP concerns
  • Knowledge of electrical requirements for components
  • Review PCNs, EOL notices, deviations, and waivers for potential product impact.
  • Support reliability engineering efforts including failure analysis, MTBF predictions, derating analysis, and root cause investigations.
  • Perform complex BOM grading and address obsolescence with forward looking plans and mitigation.
  • Work closely with Materials & Process, and Reliability personnel to assure mission success.
  • Occasional travel to ensure part manufacturer compliance and completion of part inspection where applicable.
