The Piping Engineering & Analysis discipline performs evaluations for piping systems in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.7, and other codes as applicable to the specific evaluation being performed. The Piping Engineering & Analysis discipline also performs specialty topics including piping seismic analysis, piping stress evaluation for ASME Section III compliance, evaluation of hydraulic transients, evaluation of piping systems for thermal stratification effects, operability evaluations, and qualification of piping for hydrodynamic loads. Additionally, it covers pipe rupture evaluations, evaluation of pipe wall thinning due to flow accelerated corrosion (FAC) or microbiological induced corrosion (MIC), and pipe flaw evaluations. This role provides senior level technical analysis and supervision to project team members, establishes project task schedules and budgets, coordinates activities between disciplines, and is responsible for the successful completion of project deliverables. The position serves as a technical liaison with the client and a lead technical resource on projects. Lead engineers support engineering design projects by preparing and reviewing complex calculations, providing technical guidance, ensuring calculations are technically sound, and preparing and reviewing piping system/structural designs for completeness, accuracy, quality, constructability, and operability. They also perform engineering review of drawings, review design input for complex systems/structures, define client expectations for drawings, coordinate interface between design and engineering, and actively participate in design reviews. Preparation and review of major system, installation, and material specifications, defining technical and commercial requirements, and scheduling of vendor submittals are also key responsibilities. The role involves preparing bid evaluations for complex systems and installation scopes, participating in bid negotiations with vendors, and potentially evaluating change orders. Preparation and review of single-discipline, complex reports/studies, participation in multi-discipline reports, and reviewing studies and reports to ensure technical soundness, cost-effectiveness, and clear communication are also expected.
