About The Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer to analyze, design, develop, and test GDMS systems. This role ensures the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety, and other requirements within the overall engineering effort. Responsibilities include requirements analysis, definition, management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), validation, and interface definition studies of system elements. Tasks may involve formulating operational concepts, performing mission, functional, cost-benefit, and risk analysis, and developing signal processing and overall system architecture. Our systems often incorporate digital signal processing algorithms implemented in hardware and software for space-based applications. The ideal candidate will have experience with digital signal processing algorithm development for statistical analysis of signal parameter measurements using techniques from Detection & Estimation Theory, Random Processes Analysis, and Communications and Information Theory. Familiarity with MATLAB for DSP, Radar Processing, DSP for mitigating/processing RF effects, Monte Carlo analysis, or Phased Array/Beam Forming is advantageous.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field.
8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire.
Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Success leading the systems development life cycle with strong proficiency with requirements management and system modeling tools.

Nice To Haves

Agile experience preferred.
Work experience with digital signal processing algorithm development for the statistical analysis of signal parameter measurements utilizing techniques from Detection & Estimation Theory, Random Processes Analysis, and Communications and Information Theory.
Working knowledge of MATLAB for DSP using related toolboxes.
Background with Radar Processing, DSP for mitigating/processing RF effects, Monte Carlo analysis or Phased Array/Beam Forming is a plus.
Experience with Digital Engineering/Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)/SySML/MagicDraw/Cameo (requirements management/verification/validation).

Experience with SmallSats and CubeSats development.
Hardware Prototype Development, “FlatSat”, “Hardware Integration”, “Hardware in-the-loop” Systems Integrations and Test Experience.
Electrical Engineering and/or Systems Engineering, particularly with communications or digital signal processing focus.
Experience with Agile hardware, software, or firmware development, DevOps, CI/CD.
Experience in Space Payloads Design, Development or I&T.
