About The Position

The Boeing Company, Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), The Boeing Space & Mission Systems (SMS) Chief Engineering Department is seeking a Senior Space Communications Program Chief Engineer (Level M) in El Segundo, California. This role plays a critical leadership role on a Space Mission Systems (SMS) satellite program, assuring quality engineering in design, build, delivery, issue, and risk management of space systems. This engineering management position sets the vision and implements the strategies for creating an engineering center of excellence for a future proprietary portfolio of satellite products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • 10+ years of experience in space systems development.
  • Engineering leadership or chief engineer experience.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Chief Engineer to lead capture and execution of large programs in the Space Communications Portfolio.
  • Work across capabilities to ensure the skills needed to perform the design and build of complex space system programs.
  • Manage program startup and baselining.
  • Oversee risk and issue management processes and execution.
  • Engage with customers and manage program campaigns.
  • Lead engineering trade processes and baseline control.
  • Collaborate with program management and finance to ensure execution to program planning.
  • Manage anomalies with root cause corrective action (RCCA) processes.
  • Work with major suppliers on a program and manage their specifications and engineering deliveries.
