Senior Solutions Architect

DataSpring
$180,000 - $200,000Remote

About The Position

As a Senior Solutions Architect on the Member Data Platform, you will design and drive end-to-end solutions that power DataSpring’s member data capabilities — the authoritative source representing 75% of covered lives in the U.S. You will partner with product, engineering, data, security, and health plan stakeholders to translate business needs into modern, scalable architectures for ingesting, enriching, matching, and exchanging healthcare member data (eligibility, enrollment, demographics, and coverage). The ideal candidate brings deep healthcare payer domain experience, fluency in modern architecture patterns (microservices, event-driven, API-first, domain-driven design, data mesh), and hands-on experience building cloud-native solutions on Azure.

Requirements

  • Strong command of modern architecture patterns: microservices, event-driven (e.g., Kafka, Event Hubs, Service Bus), API-first (REST, GraphQL), domain-driven design, and data mesh / data product thinking.
  • Proven ability to design cloud-native solutions on Azure, including compute, storage, networking, identity, and data services (e.g., AKS, Functions, API Management, Event Hubs, Service Bus, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Synapse, Data Lake).
  • Healthcare domain fluency, particularly in the member / payer space: eligibility, enrollment, coverage, demographics, identity matching, and health plan operations.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare data standards and exchange formats such as FHIR, HL7 v2, X12 (834 enrollment strongly preferred), and NCPDP.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud and data security practices, IAM, encryption, and network security in a regulated (HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST) environment.
  • Experience with data architecture concepts such as master data management, identity resolution / record linkage, data quality, and lineage.
  • Strong scripting and IaC skills in at least one of: PowerShell, Python, Bash, Terraform, Bicep/ARM, or equivalent; familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including product leaders and health plan partners.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and customer service skills; familiarity with Agile/Scrum/SAFe delivery processes is a plus.
  • Demonstrated use of AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate design and delivery.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Microsoft .NET applications is a plus.
  • HITRUST a plus.
  • Azure certification (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert) or equivalent cloud/security certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the solution architecture for the Member Data Platform, defining target-state designs and reference architectures that align with DataSpring's product strategy, enterprise standards, and healthcare industry direction.
  • Translate business and product requirements from health plan partners and internal stakeholders into scalable, secure, cloud-native solutions on Azure, with emphasis on data quality, identity resolution, and interoperability.
  • Design domain models and data flows for healthcare member data — including eligibility, enrollment, demographics, and coverage — using industry standards such as FHIR, HL7, X12 (especially 834), and NCPDP where applicable.
  • Apply modern architecture patterns — microservices, event-driven architecture, API-first design, domain-driven design, CQRS / event sourcing, and data mesh concepts — to solve for scale, resilience, and time-to-market.
  • Drive proofs-of-concept and hands-on prototypes for new capabilities and emerging technologies; evaluate vendors and SaaS / PaaS options and make build-vs-buy recommendations.
  • Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure solutions meet HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST requirements, with strong controls around PHI/PII, identity and access management, encryption, and auditability.
  • Stay current on healthcare interoperability trends (TEFCA, CMS interoperability rules, FHIR US Core, payer data exchange) and translate relevant developments into roadmap input.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, software engineers, data engineers, DevOps/SRE, and operations to guide implementation, remove technical blockers, and uphold architectural integrity through the SDLC.
  • Define and enforce non-functional requirements for the platform: availability, performance, scalability, disaster recovery, observability, and cost efficiency.
  • Drive cost optimization across the Member Data Platform footprint by reviewing cloud usage and implementing cost-effective solutions.
  • Contribute to enterprise architecture practices by bringing the member-domain perspective into shared standards, platforms, and reusable patterns; represent the Member Data Platform in enterprise forums.
  • Report weekly status on architecture initiatives to designated DataSpring management.
  • Follow all DataSpring Policies and Procedures.
