About The Position

Upsun (formerly Platform.sh) is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect, AI-Native SDLC, to implement Upsun Dispatch within their key customer accounts. This role involves understanding customer workflows, designing and implementing architectures that fit their specific environments, and owning the technical relationship throughout the sales cycle and beyond. The position is a founding role in a new product line, where the architect's designs will set patterns for future deployments. The architect will be responsible for building initial workflows, custom steps, and integrations, and will act as a crucial link between customer problems and the product roadmap. Key responsibilities include winning technical decisions, growing existing accounts, building initial working versions of solutions, driving market feedback, creating reusable deployment patterns, and providing technical leadership through security questionnaires, architecture reviews, and executive briefings. The role requires comfort with ambiguity, as the product and category are still evolving, and collaboration across time zones may be necessary.

Requirements

• 7+ years in technical roles, with significant experience in customer-facing architecture (solutions architecture, principal/lead pre-sales engineering, technical consulting, professional services, or founding engineer with design partners).
• Hands-on technical depth, with the ability to be useful in an unfamiliar codebase and CI setup within days and build proofs of concept.
• Proficiency in at least one customer ecosystem: PHP and Symfony, JavaScript and TypeScript, Python, or Go.
• Modern SDLC fluency, including Git workflows, CI/CD, testing strategy, code review practices, and release management.
• Competence in cloud and infrastructure, including containers, environments, secrets handling, cloud primitives, and production operations.
• AI-Native expertise, including building with agents, multi-step agentic workflows, tool and MCP integration, context engineering, evaluating and steering model output, and understanding cost/latency tradeoffs, governance, audit, and cost control in agentic systems.
• Strong ability to anchor technical conversations in business outcomes and communicate effectively with engineering leaders about the state of the field.
• Executive presence, capable of managing concerns from VPs of Engineering, security reviewers, and finance stakeholders.
• Strong written communication skills for creating architecture documents, runbooks, and briefs.
• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to revise and iterate on new concepts.
• Ability to work across time zones, as product/engineering teams and customers may be in Europe.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical relationship on opportunities, including discovery, architecture and security review, proofs of value, and decision-making conversations.
• Expand solutions within customer accounts, moving from the initial workflow to subsequent ones in both new and existing customers.
• Build workflows, custom steps, and integrations using customer-specific tools like GitHub/GitLab, Jira/Linear, Slack, and existing CI systems.
• Act as the primary conduit for customer feedback to the product and engineering teams, translating customer issues into structured input for the roadmap.
• Document and capture each deployment as a reusable pattern, such as a reference architecture, workflow template, or documented approach, to enable partners and other architects.
• Handle technical leadership tasks including security questionnaires, architecture reviews, compliance questions, RFP inputs, technical workshops, and executive briefings.
