About The Position

This position serves as the Senior Solution Architect, providing highly advanced technical specialist and advisory functions in planning, implementing and coordinating integrations solution engineering. In this role you will develop code, configure middleware platforms and write scripts or workflows to enable data exchange between systems. In addition, you will conduct and coordinate in-depth enterprise-wide management studies involving extensive technical research and systems analysis and serve as a project lead coordinating and conducting application solutions related projects of a complex nature. The Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) is seeking to hire qualified candidates with the opportunity to work in a dynamic, creative thinking, problem solving environment.

Requirements

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
• Requires five (5) years of professional experience with full-stack application development, Solution Architecture, or a related Information Technology field.
• Requires five (5) years of professional experience with low code, no code cloud platforms (Salesforce, MS Dynamics, etc.) and enterprise-wide middleware integration platforms such AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Anypoint, Mulesoft, or Boomi, etc.
• Requires five (5) years of professional experience developing backend systems such as relational databases and analytics utilizing popular middleware, commercial frameworks, Dataverse, or Microsoft power platform.
• Requires five (5) years of professional experience designing, implementing, and maintaining APIs for varied systems to enable smooth integration and data exchange.
• Requires the ability to verify identity.
• Requires employment authorization to accept permanent full-time position with State of Illinois.
• Requires the ability to pass a position specific, agency required background check and requires self-disclosure of criminal history.
• Requires the ability to travel in performance of duties.
• Requires ability to work outside of normal business hours to meet deadlines.
• Requires the ability to use agency supplied equipment such as laptop, personal computer, work cell phone, etc.
• Requires the ability to lift and carry objects or equipment weighing up to 10 pounds. This is considered sedentary work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(a)). Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and requires occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing.
• Requires adherence to the revolving door restrictions outlined in 5 ILCS 430/5-45.
• Requires compliance with the provisions outlined in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act, necessitating the occupant of this position to file of a Statement of Economic Interest.

• Thorough knowledge of Enterprise Applications development programming languages, database systems, and web technologies such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
• Thorough knowledge of relational database and data warehouse in MS SQL, Oracle, IMS, and DB2.
• Ability to Analyze complex systems problems, perform research, and propose potential solutions and options to the CIO.
• Ability to maintain excellent working relationships within the team and with stakeholders.
• Developed verbal and written communication skills to present information to stakeholders and leadership with clarity and precision.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the Senior Solution Architect for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), providing a full range of highly complex professional and advisory information technology services, creating detailed architectural designs and technical solutions that align with agency objectives and technical requirements while ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
• Serves as a highly advanced specialist in planning, designing, and implementing the integration solution architecture.
• Serves as advisor and subject matter expert, providing solutioning directives, questions, concerns, and issues, communicating with clients, technicians, and third-party vendors as required.
• Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
