About The Position

The Senior Solar Energy Engineer will work with a team of engineers to design, bid, project manage, and commission solar PV, battery, and EV charging systems for CMTA clients. The role is in the Energy Solutions division, which delivers Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts and Design/Build contracts, as well as renewable energy projects including behind-the-meter, front-of-the-meter, and community solar. The team works across building types and focuses on solar PV, battery energy storage systems, microgrids, and EV charging infrastructure. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, enjoys helping clients, and has a technical background.

Requirements

5–10+ years of experience with small- and large-commercial PV and battery installations, including systems in the 50 kW–2 MW+ range.
Experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
Ability to develop, read, and discuss single-line diagrams for PV systems.
Ability to calculate voltage drop, conduit fill, transformer sizing, and short-circuit current.
Knowledge of real, reactive, and apparent power.
Knowledge of grid-tied PV systems and associated components.
Knowledge of three-phase power systems and microgrids.
Familiarity with construction project management, project flow, and deadlines.
Knowledge of AC and DC electrical wiring, communications, and monitoring systems.
Thorough knowledge of the NEC electrical code, especially Section 690.
Experience with PV interconnection documents and ability to understand utility tariffs.
Experience with behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter interconnections.
Experience modeling PV production with tools such as SAM, PV Syst, or Helioscope.
Ability to understand structural drawings and related industry terminology.
Knowledge of PV racking types for pitched and flat roofs, carports, and ground mounts.
Familiarity with SMA, SolarEdge, Fronius, and other inverter products and design software.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
