We are seeking a Senior Software / Systems Engineer to be key a contributor in producing world-class mission applications supporting the Naval Operational Architecture. The right engineer is delivery-focused, demonstrates strong leadership potential, and is passionate about designing and developing rapid prototypes through modern approaches and methodologies. This role requires in-person support.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in software development, system engineering, or related field, or additional years in lieu of degree.
  • At least 6+ years of experience working as a systems engineer
  • Experience with DOD C2, ISR, or combat systems (US Navy preferred)
  • Experience identifying risks associated with the development and implementation of Architectures, both external and internal, for efforts in the RDT&E phase of the acquisition life cycle
  • Experience providing functional knowledge and technical support of developing enterprise architecture to support MBSE to the NOA Chief Engineer. This support shall include data structure supporting Systems Modeling Language (SySML) and development of integration with current data models and tools in use
  • Experience monitoring and tracking the as-is Architectures, which includes fielded and programmed architectures focused on programs, projects, and their interfaces, both external and internal
  • Experience monitoring, maintaining, enhancing and managing all system (software/hardware/network/configuration and data management) operations and system administration, integration, and data transfer for modeling and simulation tools, architecture tools, and data repositories within the Naval Integrated Modeling Environment (IME)
  • Experience developing target architectures for platforms, enclaves, and systems based on Defense in Depth Information Assurance Functional Architecture (DFIA) by leveraging MBSE for efforts in the RDT&E phase of the acquisition life cycle
  • Experience developing roadmaps for S&T and provide forecasted systems and capabilities for integration into forward-looking views of the Navy’s Enterprise Architecture (EA), including Target Architecture.
  • Experience providing input in the review and analysis of Acquisition Engineering documentation for programs in the RDT&E lifecycle, e.g., DoDAF Artifacts, Symantec Endpoint Protections (SEPs), Cybersecurity Strategy, System-Level Continuous Monitoring (SLCM) strategy, System Security Accreditation Plans, and System Design Specification (SDS), Human System Integration (HSI) requirements and plans, System test and quality assurance plans to include TEMPs, Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) plans, Software Development and Software Management Plans
  • Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required
  • Must have current/active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the engineering and development cycle associated with producing a resilient software, hardware and web application solution, including: specification, design, coding, testing, and maintenance.
  • Responsible for the integration of various network operating systems, application programs, and hardware devices.
  • Technical leadership and coordination across all aspects of the program capability portfolio
  • Responsible for ensuring coordination of all interacting systems within the enterprise and its extended environments to include people, ideas, and processes
  • Work collaboratively with others to achieve goals, be a persistent, creative problem solver, and stay on the leading edge of development practices
  • Help to define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
  • Support and employ the MBSE approach for systems planning, design, execution, and sustainment in coordination with the Lead SE and SE team members
  • Provide technical leadership and input to system architecture and help with re-designs and improvements
  • Attend design sessions and provide technical input considering program priorities and product roadmap
  • Assist in establishing SE processes and tools to accomplish analysis, problem diagnosis and solution design, integration and test preparation, risk assessment and mitigation planning, and related activities
