About The Position

Based at our Center of Excellence for BioAnalytics in Ann Arbor, MI. In the Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer role, you will use your software quality engineering and test automation experience to support testing and test automation of our bioanalytical lab instruments such as the Incucyte live-cell analysis instrument. This is an onsite role based at our Ann Arbor, MI site. You will be working with the development teams that build the Incucyte Windows desktop client software used by customers to gather and analyze data during experiments, as well as the Windows control software that manages and operates the instrument hardware. You will also collaborate with existing software QA and other team members on the entire product development lifecycle, including requirements refinement, overall test planning for releases, functional testing of new features and bugfixes, and manual regression testing for releases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Or 7+ years of relevant software engineering experience
  • 5+ years' experience in software QA and testing, preferably including desktop software and integrated hardware
  • 3 years' experience building automation framework tools and test automation scripts.
  • Experience with software test automation using high level languages such as C# and scripting languages such as Python
  • Experience developing and maintaining software testing automation tools and frameworks
  • Experience with cloud-based CI/CD tools such as Azure and Azure DevOps
  • Experience with testing and automating testing for Windows Desktop software and integrated hardware
  • Experience with low/no-code tools such as SmartBear TestComplete, and LLM AI tools such as GitHub CoPilot
  • Experience with test-driven (TDD) and behavior-driven (BDD) Agile development and testing practices
  • Good understanding of Software Development Fundamentals, including Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Research, plan, and implement software test automation tools and frameworks, including using modern LLM-based code generation tools such as GitHub CoPilot, as well as low/no-code tools like Smart Bear Test Complete.
  • Create automation frameworks, scripts, and tools that can be shared with other instrument hardware and software teams.
  • Create automation scripts to automate regression tests and other software quality assurance tasks.
  • Create and execute functional, exploratory, and manual regression tests as part of software releases, using your previous software testing and quality engineering experience.
  • Document defects and prepare reports on all aspects related to the software testing.
  • Participate in design reviews and providing input on requirements, product design, and potential problems.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, providing feedback on changes and proposing ideas for positive change to increase quality, decrease testing time, and make testing more efficient.
