A Day in the Life: The Senior Software Quality Assurance Consultant serves as a strategic leader responsible for driving the vision, development, and execution of enterprise-wide quality engineering and automated testing initiatives. This role oversees advanced automation across all software layers (infrastructure, UI, services, APIs, cloud platforms), ensures the maturity of CI/CD practices, and champions continuous improvement across the organization. In addition, this leader develops sophisticated automation frameworks, guides Quality Engineering teams, and influences cross-functional partners to elevate quality standards. The Senior Software Quality Assurance Consultant establishes organizational testing best practices, aligns quality strategies with business objectives, and ensures scalable, reliable, and secure software delivery. This role requires adaptability in a dynamic environment committed to innovation and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Extensive expertise in automated testing tools, frameworks, and enterprise-level QA strategies
  • Deep hands-on experience with automation across all software layers (Infrastructure, UI, services, APIs, cloud)
  • Advanced proficiency in CI/CD pipeline design, integration, and continuous testing practices
  • Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud platforms and cloud-native testing approaches
  • Proven success leading QA in Agile/DevOps environments
  • Expert-level experience with Selenium or comparable automation tools
  • Comprehensive understanding of smoke, black-box, white-box, regression, performance, and end-to-end testing
  • Strong understanding of security and privacy controls within testing frameworks
  • Experience with both front-end and back-end testing for modern distributed systems
  • Advanced scripting and automation development experience using modern languages
  • Familiarity with distributed and midrange (AS400) test environments
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with tools such as Selenium, Bitbucket, Git, GitLab pipelines, JIRA, Confluence, TypeScript, Java, OnBase, and Eloquence
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience working in automated unit, integration, and system testing required.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in CI/CD engineering and continuous testing.
  • A minimum of seven years of proven leadership or management experience in formal or informal roles, with strong Agile exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance, long-term vision, and direction for Quality Engineering and QA operations.
  • Advise on building, scaling and developing the Quality Engineering team.
  • Collaborate with leadership to recommend workforce planning, conducting skills analysis and establishing development plans.
  • Sponsor and lead cross-functional initiatives that improve quality, automation, and engineering efficiency across the enterprise.
  • Manage operational, technical, and workforce risks to ensure compliance with industry, regulatory, and organizational standards.
  • Drive alignment across teams by fostering collaboration, transparency, and shared accountability for quality outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership to Quality Engineers, elevating their automation, architectural, and leadership capabilities.
  • Define and evolve enterprise automation strategies, frameworks, and tooling for current and next-generation platforms.
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of robust automation frameworks supporting UI, API, services, infrastructure, and cloud testing.
  • Advance CI/CD pipeline maturity, including automated quality gates, environment provisioning, and continuous testing.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise test procedures, standards, and documentation.
  • Lead large-scale testing initiatives including regression, performance, scalability, resiliency, and infrastructure validation.
  • Implement and optimize Test Case Management solutions and API integrations.
  • Provide comprehensive reporting on test coverage, quality metrics, and release readiness to leadership and SMEs.
  • Collaborate with development teams to identify, triage, and remediate system defects, ensuring high-quality releases.
  • Champion quality throughout the SDLC by participating in design reviews, code reviews, and architectural discussions.
  • Promote a culture of quality, testability, and engineering excellence across all product teams.
  • Implement and refine structured testing methodologies aligned with Agile, DevOps, and continuous delivery practices.
  • Ensure adherence to security, privacy, and compliance standards across all testing activities.
  • Train and mentor teams across the organization on automation tools, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Share reusable test assets and frameworks to promote consistency and efficiency.
  • Actively participate in Quarterly Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Release Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to Product Owners, Developers, Analysts, Security, DevOps, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Represent NGL’s mission, values, and conduct expectations in all interactions.
  • Facilitate effective meetings with internal teams, leadership, and external vendors.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support organizational goals.
