We’re seeking a dynamic engineering leader to head a new Cryptographic software team developing mission-critical capabilities for next-generation U.S. military crypto products. This is your opportunity to lead cutting-edge work in cryptographic software, including quantum-resistant encryption, alongside top engineers in software, hardware, FPGA, and systems design. As the Senior Software Engineering Manager, you’ll guide a high-performing team responsible for developing secure embedded software that will be reviewed and validated by the NSA. You’ll have a critical voice from the initial pursuit phase through development, release, and long-term sustainment, ensuring technical excellence while managing cost and schedule. Requirements

  • Experience leading engineering teams, including mentoring, task delegation, and cross-functional collaboration in a technical development environment
  • Experience in program execution, including bidding, project planning, Earned Value Management (EVM), and risk and opportunity management
  • Experienced with embedded software development
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience

  • Lead and Develop a High-Performing Engineering Team: Manage and mentor a team of engineers, from entry level to seasoned professionals. This includes hiring, staffing allocation, and fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.
  • Grow Talent and Foster Job Satisfaction: Support team members in their professional development goals and career aspirations at Collins Aerospace. Provide constructive performance feedback regularly and collaborate with employees on growth areas.
  • Collaborate Across Functions: Engage with engineers, engineering leadership, program managers, and shared service organizations to ensure seamless integration of embedded cryptographic solutions. Foster strong networking relationships to support project success.
  • Champion Product Line Strategy and Development Best Practices: Drive the creation of software solutions that not only exceed our customer expectations but support product line solutions. Promote software development best practices throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Support Pursuit and Bidding Activities: Actively participate in pursuit activities, including bidding for new programs. Contribute technical expertise and strategic insights to strengthen proposals and secure new business opportunities.
  • Optimize Staffing and Program Management: Manage staffing levels across multiple programs to ensure alignment with project schedules and resource requirements. Utilize earned value management techniques to monitor and enhance program performance and profitability.
  • Ensure Compliance and Process Adherence: Uphold Collins' standards and procedures, ensuring all engineering activities comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and enhance operational effectiveness.
