About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager and Product Owner for the Medtronic AWS Cloud Platform. This role involves leading a team of Dev/Ops and cloud software engineers, continuously improving software engineering practices, and investing in team member growth. The team is responsible for the global standards and configuration of Medtronic's AWS cloud, managing over 600 accounts across various regions. Responsibilities include architecting and maintaining deployment, account management, networking, provisioning, global configuration guardrails, operational and security observability, and 24/7 operations. The team partners with businesses to understand use cases and requirements, and collaborates with AWS and stakeholders in security, privacy, legal, and operations to define how Medtronic consumes AWS services. This includes defining standards, implementing policy-based controls, creating service catalog code standards, reusable code artifacts, and CI/CD pipelines. The team also maintains configuration standards aligned with HIPAA, ISO, GDPR, and other regulatory standards, and includes a FinOps practice to monitor spending and trends. The team writes and maintains code to address changes across accounts for cost reduction, technical debt reduction, security posture improvement, configuration drift management, and operational issue response. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree
  • 5+ years of managerial experience

  • Proven ability to deliver AWS cloud-based software solutions in a secure environment (healthcare, finance, or government/regulated environment is preferred)
  • Passion for developing and coaching a team
  • Experience leading a team of seasoned professionals
  • Proven ability to effectively manage the development of digital products (Agile Product Team)
  • Exceptional problem solving and communication skills
  • Experience as a product owner or lead business analyst on a software engineering team

  • Experience working with nearshore and offshore teams
  • AWS Certification such as AWS Cloud Architect Professional
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of software & data engineers in the Digital Health space, building enterprise platforms to enable personalized healthcare driven by data
  • Continually improve our software delivery by maturing our software engineering practices (CI/CD, automated testing, cloud-native architectures).
  • Collaborate cross functionally with engineering, security, service delivery, and privacy teams, among other teams, to deliver best in class digital products
  • Influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, peers, and leadership to remove barriers
  • Oversee activities of development and design requirements for software systems, applications and software quality assurance for enhancements and new products, including cloud-based platforms, to meet the current and future software needs
  • Manage activities to ensure programs are appropriately resourced and ensure continuous improvement in technical capability, process, and compliance
  • Manage scope, cost, and schedule within a cross-functional development team
  • Create and manage expectations with team members, stakeholders, cross functional teams, and leadership
  • Select, develop, coach, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
