The person in this role will work from the Medtronic facility located in Mounds View, Minnesota. As a Senior Software Engineering Manager and Product Owner of the Medtronic AWS Cloud Platform, you will lead a team of Dev/Ops and cloud software engineers. You will continuously improve our software engineering practices while investing in the growth of each member of the team. Our team is responsible for the global standards and configuration of Medtronic AWS cloud with over 600 accounts in the US, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Greater China. We architect and maintain deployment, account management, networking, Ingress/Egress, account and service provisioning, global configuration guard rails, operational and security observability, and 24/7 operations. Our team partners with businesses to understand use cases and requirements. We also partner with AWS and our stakeholders in security, privacy, legal, and operations to curate and design how Medtronic consumes AWS services. Our team defines standards, implements policy-based controls, and creates service catalog code standards, reusable code artifacts, and CI/CD pipelines and integrations that enable consistent self-service for our application teams to consume. We maintain configuration standards that align with HIPAA, ISO, GDPR, and other industry and regulatory standards and guidance from AWS as to how services must be deployed for compliance. Our team includes a FinOps practice that monitors spending and trends to continuously refine how to meet application requirements in an efficient manner. We write and maintain code to address changes across many accounts achieving specific outcomes such as cost reduction, technical debt reduction, security posture improvement, configuration drift management, response to evolving operational issues, and improvements to inventory management. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree
  • 5+ years of managerial experience

  • Proven ability to deliver AWS cloud-based software solutions in a secure environment (healthcare, finance, or government/regulated environment is preferred)
  • Passion for developing and coaching a team
  • Experience leading a team of seasoned professionals
  • Proven ability to effectively manage the development of digital products (Agile Product Team)
  • Exceptional problem solving and communication skills
  • Experience as a product owner or lead business analyst on a software engineering team
  • Proven track record successfully managing software development projects
  • Experience building cloud native solutions, specifically leveraging AWS Native Services
  • Experience with AI systems design and AI Operations (e.g. Kiro)
  • Innate curiosity and a desire to work in a developing space
  • Strong technical acumen and proven ability to collaborate with engineers and developers on technical discussions
  • Ability to lead through change and inspire confidence in your team
  • Extensive experience with Agile development methodologies

  • Experience working with nearshore and offshore teams
  • AWS Certification such as AWS Cloud Architect Professional
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of software & data engineers in the Digital Health space, building enterprise platforms to enable personalized healthcare driven by data
  • Continually improve our software delivery by maturing our software engineering practices (CI/CD, automated testing, cloud-native architectures).
  • Collaborate cross functionally with engineering, security, service delivery, and privacy teams, among other teams, to deliver best in class digital products
  • Influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, peers, and leadership to remove barriers
  • Oversee activities of development and design requirements for software systems, applications and software quality assurance for enhancements and new products, including cloud-based platforms, to meet the current and future software needs
  • Manage activities to ensure programs are appropriately resourced and ensure continuous improvement in technical capability, process, and compliance
  • Manage scope, cost, and schedule within a cross-functional development team
  • Create and manage expectations with team members, stakeholders, cross functional teams, and leadership
  • Select, develop, coach, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
