About The Position

We are seeking a talented and passionate Senior Software Engineer (Back End), you will be part of Catalog Engineering team and will be responsible for developing high performance and scalable Catalog Service that meet the needs of millions of Walmart customers. Design and develop integrations with next generation downstream application that is built largely on an event driven platform implemented via a micro-service architecture. We are looking to bring more intellectually curious engineers who are passionate about technology in general. About the Team Join the innovative Walmart Catalog team, were creativity and technological innovation drive success. We specialize in enhancing Seller and supplier experiences in setting up their catalog and managing Catalog platform. Our tech stack includes Java for backend services, providing an exciting opportunity for growth and collaboration. Our Catalog Engineering team has built a highly scalable Catalog Service. You will work on NextGen upstream integration, catalog migration to a new platform, and develop highly scalable catalog micro services. You’ll independently handle high impact, critical software/systems monitoring issues, troubleshoot business and production issues. As a member of this fast-moving and highly entrepreneurial team, you’ll be able to say that you work for the world’s largest retailer and contribute to innovation and development to best-in-class methodologies that impacted perception and drastically changed business as we know it. Requirements

  • Strong experience in Java and backend system development
  • Expertise in microservices architecture using Spring Boot, Spring WebFlux, and Project Reactor (Mono/Flux)
  • Experience with distributed systems and technologies such as Kafka, Solr, and caching solutions
  • Solid understanding of Apache Spark
  • Deep knowledge of J2EE, multithreading, and networking concepts
  • Experience with performance tuning, caching, and storage optimization
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and CI/CD tools (Git, Maven, Jenkins)
  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB and Cassandra
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture and DevOps practices
  • GenAI Experience (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with AI-driven code analysis and quality tools
  • Experience implementing AI-based testing frameworks
  • Exposure to AI-powered monitoring and performance optimization tools
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Design and develop highly scalable services to solve complex system challenges, improving catalog and partner experience platforms
  • Lead by example as a strong, hands-on engineer contributing high-quality code
  • Troubleshoot production and business issues by collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
  • Work in an Agile environment, following best practices and delivering high-impact results
  • Stay current with GenAI trends and contribute to innovative solutions enhancing seller and supplier experience
  • Drive medium to large-scale cross-functional projects, including:Translating business requirements into technical solutions Designing scalable architectures Writing and testing code Collaborating with stakeholders Resolving defects and improving system reliability
