About The Position

Susquehanna is a global quantitative trading firm that uses scientific rigor, curiosity, and innovation to power its operations. The firm's culture is intellectually driven and highly collaborative, bringing together researchers, engineers, and traders to design and deploy impactful strategies in its systematic trading environment. Susquehanna applies machine learning and advanced quantitative research to vast datasets to uncover actionable insights and build effective strategies. The Research Tech team builds applications, services, and platforms that support trading strategies and make research workflows more scalable across the firm. The Senior Software Engineer will work at the intersection of engineering, quantitative research, and production infrastructure, with meaningful ownership of the systems that researchers and traders rely on daily. This role involves partnering directly with quantitative researchers and trading leads to design, build, and support the applications they use for exploring ideas, running analyses, and putting strategies into production. The role offers opportunities for substantive engagement with the mathematical and statistical aspects of the work.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong hands-on experience in C#, Python, and React (or other modern JavaScript frameworks)
  • Full-stack comfort — backend services through frontend interfaces, with fluency across the languages above
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to iterate quickly with quantitative researchers, traders, and other developers in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field

Responsibilities

  • Build research applications, services, and platforms that support trading strategies — spanning beta analysis across baskets of stocks, news aggregation, trading-opinion workflows, and the production infrastructure needed to run these capabilities reliably
  • Partner directly with quantitative researchers and traders on a daily basis to understand their needs, translate them into working systems, and deliver features end-to-end from design through production
  • Improve production behavior of the platform — observability, debugging tooling, and performance tuning under load
  • Work across the full stack — C# and .NET backend services, React and JavaScript frontends, and Python for data-intensive services — collaborating with adjacent engineering teams across the firm and internationally

Benefits

  • Susquehanna offers a wide array of employee perks & benefits.
